Wingfoil is an amazing sport that combines the freedom of flight with a connection to the water. If you are only thinking about taking your first steps, it is important to start correctly. Here is why learning with an instructor speeds up progress, which stages await you and why wingfoil is perfect almost anywhere — from quiet lakes to ocean waves.

A safe start
Why should you start with an instructor?
Learning wingfoil with a professional is not just a recommendation — it is essential.
An instructor will help you:
- Learn the basic skills safely: controlling the wing, balancing on the board, stable flight and turns.
- Avoid common mistakes: bent arms, incorrect wing control and poor stance that makes your muscles tire faster.
- Progress to foil flight sooner: the “Foil + Boat” lesson lets you focus on height control and stable flight.
Dahab's steady wind and warm water create ideal learning conditions, even for complete beginners.

The path to independent riding
From your first steps to your first waves
Every stage at Wingfoil Vetratoria is designed to reveal the sport's potential gradually and build one skill on top of another.
Wing control on a SUP board
In your first lesson, you will learn to:
- keep the wing balanced and feel its power;
- make basic turns and move upwind.
This stage is the foundation for confident wing control. Once you can return to your starting point, the SUP is replaced with a foil board and you begin learning to fly using the wind.

Foil control behind a boat
If you have never stood on a foil board before, here you will:
- understand how to control lift;
- learn to fly steadily on a foil board.
The instructor sits in the boat while you hold the tow rope. The boat pulls you forward, allowing you to concentrate on your feet and board control.

Combining the skills: Wing + Foil
Now you combine wing and foil control:
- practise water starts;
- achieve stable flight above the water;
- learn to ride in an S-shaped course;
- hold a steady course and ride further upwind.

Turns and riding waves
For riders who are already flying but want more:
- basic turns: jibe and tack;
- first tricks and riding waves.
This stage opens the way to independent adventures on any body of water.

Freedom to travel
Lakes, rivers and the ocean
The beauty of wingfoil is that it does not require perfect conditions. In Dahab, you can ride almost every day. Wingfoil also works on lakes where the wind is unstable and light, as well as on ocean waves — although it is best to learn on flat water first.
The equipment is compact, and the skills you gain at the school allow you to travel with your wingfoil anywhere in the world.
